Hi debbysa, what a wonderful thing to do for your son! Good luck to both of you!
I did want to point you to this quick, easy to read article regarding artificial sweeteners by the Mayo Clinic. It gives really good, informative info so it might help you decide what would be better for your use.

Some of us here don't really like the chemically produced artificial sweeteners as much as the more natural ones. Sometimes, they are to sweet, or have a bad aftertaste. For your cranberry sauce, I would probably choose Stevia/Truvia in equal amounts, however, taste, taste, taste - (they make granulated) but add a little first, and add more if needed. You might also want to look into Agave, but I would want to be sure it wouldn't alter the taste of the fresh cranberries.
I hope this helps! Let us know.
