Baby's 1st Birthday Cake
i baked this cake, but it didn't rise. was it me or the recipe? or both?

Not a lot of flour in this, and between the eggs and the baking powder it should have risen. Have you checked your baking powder recently - it can go bad in a matter of months after the box is opened.

that was probably the problem. my baking powder has been in the freezer for quite some time. i'll try again with fresh baking powder.
i also noticed that the center of the cake still seemed to be raw even after 45 minutes of baking. is this because the cake didn't rise?

It could be because the cake didn't rise.
It could also be because your oven temperature is not accurate - it may need to be recalibrated. You can easily check the oven temp with an inexpensive oven thermometer.
