    You can just omit it. It's a coloring agent. There are some things that might substitute depending on what you are making.

    Kitchen Bouquet is a browning and seasoning sauce. It can be as a base for gravies or stews. It is also used in cooking meats. The ingredients which make up Kitchen Bouquet include caramel coloring, mixed vegetable stock, salt and parsley. To use Kitchen Bouquet to thicken and color your soups and stews, simply add a few drops at a time to your recipe.

    Kitchen Bouquet is a seasoning and browning agent. I use it all the time and would not be caught without it. The seasoning part is a combination of: carrots, onions, celery, parsnips, turnips, salt, and parsley. If you have all or part of those vegetables in stock, you could boil them in a little water until they are mushy, then puree them. You will want to add only maybe a tablespoon of the veggie puree to your gravy.

    For the browning agent, which is caramel in Kitchen Bouquet, you can take the flour you are going to use for making your gravy and brown it. Keep stirring it the whole time you are browning it because you want it to be brown but not burned. This browned flour will give both color and flavor to your gravy.

    Hello, I have found the ingredient "kitchen bouquet" in several recipes but have been unable to find what it is. Is there a recipe for it and/or where can I get it?. Norman

    Kitchen Bouquet is a bottled condiment sauce used to give food a nice brown color, especially crock-pot or microwave recipes that might not brown on their own. It has a mild beef taste. It's made from vegetables, water, spices, and herbs.

    To substitute, you can use soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, or instant coffee granules to darken food. You can also make your own browning agent by melting 1/2 cup brown sugar in a saucepan until it turns a darker brown. Whisk in 2 cups water until sugar is dissolved. Simmer to reduce slightly. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Brush on meat or use in recipes in place of Kitchen Bouquet.
