Does anyone know how to make a copy cat version of Pei Wei's Honey Seared Chicken? My daughter, who is only 2 years old, has started requesting it. I've tried a few different hawaiian chicken recipe's on the site, but they failed her taste buds miserably. Not that they weren't good, just not the same. She loves noodles and so I always order her the chicken with extra sauce over noodles. Pei Wei is the fast food version of P F Chang's Restaurant. Thanks!

Saw this, perhaps it's close, - from recipelink.com
I copied this recipe down when I saw it. As I remember, it is from a chef at PF Changs restaurant for a news show. I have not made it, nor am I sure that the Honey Chicken at PF Changs is the same as at Pei Wei. Maybe this is a starting point.
PF CHANGS HONEY CHICKEN
FOR THE BATTER:
4 oz flour
2 1/2 oz cornstarch
1 egg
6 oz water
1/8 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp baking powder
Mix the ingredients for the batter together thoroughly and let sit in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
FOR THE CHICKEN SEASONING:
1 lb boneless chicken breast, cut up
1 Tbsp lite soy sauce
1/8 tsp white pepper
1/4 tsp kosher salt
1 Tbsp corn starch
Coat chicken with seasonings and marinate in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
TO COOK THE CHICKEN:
Coat chicken with batter and fry in oil (I did not write down the directions to this as it seemed self explainatory at the time).
FOR THE SAUCE:
1/2 cup sake or rice wine
1/2 cup honey
3 oz rice vinegar
3 Tbsp lite soy sauce
6 Tbsp sugar
Mix ingredients for the sauce together. When ready to eat, mix 1/4 cup water with 1/4 cup cornstarch. Bring the ingredients for the sauce to a boil and add the cornstarch mixture slowly, boil 1-2 minutes. It should be like loose honey.
Coat the cooked chicken with the sauce.

Has anyone else tried this yet? I made it today. The sauce was good and very similar to pf chang/pei wei but my coating was a disaster, it all fell off and I had globs of coating in my fry pan. Wondering if anyone else had better luck with that part. I suppose non-coated chicken is more healthy anyway, thanks for the recipe!

Just buy popcorn chicken from the groceries store and toss that in with the sauce.
Skip all the batter mess.......I have tried this and it is amazing plus cut your cooking time in half.
Enjoy anytime!
