What are your favorite board games? I'm looking to buy a few for Christmas and am looking for ideas.

Pit is great fun! Love Scrabble as well (I play that on FB along with Word With Friends). Son has an entire closet full of board games - soon as he calls me back I'll come back with more for you.

No board games, just Scrabble electronically and the devilish spider solitaire (grrrr....).

Right now, DS likes Pictureka, Labyrinth, Diplomacy and Risk. Being a kid, he is much better at Pictureka than us adults, who can't seem to find anything in the pictures. I haven't the patience for Diplomacy or Risk. Labyrinth is a great game for teaching strategy, planning and replanning.

My sister just bought a game with words and letters, but it isn't Scrabble. It looked to be fun but I cannot read through the wrapping paper to tell you the name. I will call her later, after she arrives home.

Suspend isn't a board game but is fun to play. It is similar to Jenga but with metal rods that have to be added to the structure without toppling it over.

My sister says Dirty Minds is a fun group board game but is probably best for adults.

We have a great board game store near us. They have more than the usual games at Target and WalMart. And their staff is very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, they do not put their inventory on their website.

We do have a really fun card game called Fluxx. The rules change depending upon what cards are played so the game takes lots of twists and turns. Never the same game twice. It sounds more complicated than it is in actuality.

K9! I didn't think anyone else I know liked Backgammon! I also like Scrabble, Boggle and when we have time and enough people, Trivial Pursuit is fun.

These aren't board games, rather dice games, but we love Spinners and Mexican Train. We play every Friday night with my nieces and nephews.

We try to get together for a soup and game day at least once a month during the cooler months. Our favorite games are Apples to Apples, Bingo, Chicken Foot (dominoes), and Scrabble Slam, to name just a few. I think if we had to choose just one, it would be Appes to Apples...that game is hilarious!

Apples to Apples gets my vote, too.

And I know you asked for board games, but are you into card games? I usually HATE cards (many people have died a slow and painful death trying to teach me to play pinochle). That card-playing bone seems to be missing in my head.

But my brother-in-law introduced us to Five Crowns--and I am hooked! It's so much fun--but sometimes brings out the colorful language born out of "almost-but-not-quite."

We've already worn out one deck, and I just bought another one on ebay. We play cut-throat Five Crowns at our house. icon_biggrin.gif
