Hi, and welcome. We have a great diabetes forum where you can get help from people who are in the same situation,
http://www.food.com/bb/viewforum.zsp?f=39
Our recipe sifter will search for diabetic-friendly recipes, if they've been marked as such by the poster. To do this, you would do a search for what you are looking for - let's say apple cake. You type it into the search bar - and you get this
http://www.food.com/recipe-finder/all/apple-cake
You then hover your cursor over the Top Recipes tab and you will see the Recipe Sifter button - yes, we know, it should be more prominent. Anyway, click that. You will see that "apple cake" will be shown in the right hand column.
Now go to the left hand column and select Diet. Then in the next column over you will find Diabetic friendly. Click that, then click Get Recipes in the right hand column and you will get
http://www.food.com/recipe-finder/diabetic/apple-cake
You also go to the Recipe Sifter and start with diabetic friendly, then go back to the first column and select a course you are interested in. Or you can search by Diet and Low in Sugar or Low in Carbs, or by Nutrition and more specific numbers.
Please note that for the last few weeks there has been a problem with IE and the recipe sifter and it just does not work there. Please use Firefox or Chrome or some other browser when using the Recipe Sifter.
I hope this helps you get started!
