Joy, this is the best news ever. I trust you will be doing the driving. I pray you have a safe journey and arrive at your destination with everything intact. How long will you be staying in the country before you fly back to Oz?

Panda, I never got any message saying anyone else had posted. Sorry about that. I came often, but as nobody else had said anything I didn't either! Not a great excuse I know!

Fantastic, Dubai and Hong Kong! Tell us more??? Did you like them??? What were they like from a tourist point of view?

Have been battling a sick dog here the past week. Today she is a lot better and very busy doing illustrations for a new children's book as well as keeping the gallery in town filled up with my cards. Apparently they are selling like hot cakes. Very labor intensive though so they take a long time. I doubt I even break even with them, but it is getting my work out there. I wish Hallmark would just give me a call!!

OK, those are my excuses. Wot's everyone elses??

Hong Kong was wonderful. We walked our socks off, and then we used the MTR and if we were just too tired we got a taxi. We saw lots of the mainland, Hong Kong Island and then another smaller island called Cheung Chau. Cheung Chau was lovely as it was quiet and you escaped the hustle and bustle of HK.DH went off to a meeting on his own one evening and I felt it was safe enough to go to the Night market (again) on my own. The culture is amazing, the food is amazing and I want to go back.
We had to change planes at Dubai, so we opted for a couple of days R&R so that we would not arrive home exhausted. Dubai, was a disappointment. You could either stay around the pool, or on the beach at your hotel, take a cab to a Mall or visit friends. The Emirati did not wander around the streets like our Mediterranean friends as it is just too hot.We have done Dubai. Never again.

Todd had a plane change in Dubai one time and he said all he remembered was the heat which smacked you as soon as you stepped off the plane. I don't know how anyone could live with that kind of heat, but I guess they just get used to it.

Anyone I know who has ever been to Hong Kong loved it.

Woke up to bad news yesterday morning. My mom was told she has lung cancer. She will be in the hospital for the next week while they determine the extent of it and where to go from here. Sad times.

Well, they are doing a catscan on the 11th December. WE are being cautiously optimistic at this point. The biggest concern is that if it is lung cancer it has moved there from someplace else and is a secondary cancer. We are trying hard to be positive for my mother's sake. Last week she seemed to think that the Doctor told her on last Monday that it was probably just scar tissue from her having had several bad bouts with pneumonia and pleurisy, but then yesterday when I talked to her she told me that she has several spots on her back which might be melanoma. So still quite worrisome.

I am packing up presents to go to Canada today and cards. Not sending a lot over this year. Mostly just cards and money. I had bought a few things already for my granddaughter and mother though, so those will go.

Where is everyone? Hope you are all well and just busy!

Thanks Panda. I will call her later on today to see if she has heard anything. We were in Chester City yesterday and it was really pleasant. The sun was shining, and it was cold, but there was no wind and the crowds were not overly bad, which was nice. Saturdays are always so crazy. I hate it when there are too many people and so much chaos.

Just to let you know that it is cancer. From what they can see it hasn't spread. My mother will be going in to have it removed in early January. I am going to fly over to be with her for the duration. Not sure how I'm going to do it yet, but that is the plan. Hoping my brother will help out with the expense. I will probably be gone at the very least for a month, but who knows how long really. I may or may not be able to get online. It all depends on if I can afford to put a wireless modem into my mother's house. We will have to wait and see. I think I will be standing down as a host on here. It wouldn't be fair for me to continue otherwise, and to be honest since the big changeover my heart hasn't been in it anyways. xxoo

Not a lot going on here. Sad to see. But just in case anyone does pop their head in Merry Christmas to all. May your holidays be merry and bright. Happy Hanukkah, Kwanza, whatever.

Hope everyone is well and happy.

I, for one, have a miserable cold. Ready to cancel Christmas this year.
