Largest Gluten Free Expo in the State of Indiana at Indianapolis, Saturday, October 13th and Sunday, October 14th.

EXPO RETURNS WITH MORE SPECIALISTS, GREAT FOODS AND COOKING LESSONS

Health specialists to share latest research on Celiac, gluten illnesses

One of the leading specialists in the study of Celiac Disease and gluten-related illnesses is returning to Carmel in October for a two-day workshop, Oct. 13 and 14.

Attendance to hear Dr. Alessio Fasano, Director, Center for Celiac Research, is expected to grow substantially with the heightened awareness of gluten's presence in the food supply.

Fasano, world-renowned pediatric gastroenterologist and research scientist, founded the Center for Celiac Research at the University of Maryland. He published the study in 2003 that established the rate of the gluten autoimmune disorder as one in 133 Americans. He has been recognized with multiple industry awards and has also been published in multiple journals, books and publications.

Not only will Fasano share his latest findings, he entertains questions from those in attendance about specific gluten-related symptoms and makes recommendations as to best practices in food and health choices.

The doctor will speak three times during the two-day expo. Scheduled times are 9:30 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. An afternoon session is scheduled for 2:30 on Saturday. Interested individuals, including physicians, are encouraged to come early. Seating is on a first come basis.

Other specialists will also present at the two-day expo that features around 80 vendors with gluten free food, information and other products, all-related to eating gluten free.
New to the expo scene this year is Charles Vanderpool, a doctor and assistant professor of pediatrics at Riley Hospital for Children. He specializes in pediatric nutrition. Also from Riley Hospital, Mary Crisostomo, a pediatric nurse practitioner who was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, will share experiences in saving money, shopping smart and dining out while eating gluten free.

Also returning this year is clinical and research dietitian from the University of Maryland, Pam Cureton and reigning Mrs. Alaska International 2012, Brandy M.H. Wendler.

All lectures and demonstration stage events are free with paid $5 admission to the expo. Tickets may be purchased online at http://shop.glutenfreelivingnow.org. Other inquiries regarding the Expo may be directed to info@glutenfreelivingnow.org or by calling (317) 771-6506 or (317) 379-2350.

The Gluten Free Living Now Expo is hosted at The Fountains, 502 Carmel Dr., Carmel, IN, 46032.

We went to their Expo last year. We live in TN and drove to Indy. We weren't disappointed. We will be back again next weekend. I spoke to Tina and she gave me the run down on all the vendors, speakers and demo's. They have even more vendors this year. Last year we stayed overnight because we couldn't visit all the vendors in one day. The food was amazing and we loved the opportunity to hear Dr. Fasano speak and to meet him. He was friendly, genuine and even answered some of my goofy questions (without making me feel not so smart).

We can't wait to come back. Thank you for this amazing Expo!

Welcome to the forums! It's very nice to meet a new friend. icon_smile.gif

If you get a chance, it would be spectacular if you could post some pictures of the event.
