DH made a fantastic ice cream cake which was covered with hazelnuts. However, we have quite a few nuts left over (out of their shell and no skins on them). Can I freeze them and use them again at a later date? Thanx for any help!

I sure hope so, because I have a bunch in the freezer.

I store all of my nuts in the freezer. You don't need to thaw them to use them either. Shell them first though.

I do a slow in shell roast of hazelnuts.180°F for 6+hrs in a convection oven.I seal in poly sleeves while still hot and freeze packages on the spot.To use I open a package and crack our 2 cups, removing every little trace of shell.I refreeze for an hr to make the kennels hard then dice them 1 cup at a time in a blender with a few quick pulses of the blender. This diced nut product is put in a mason jar in the refridge and I have choped, roasted nuts ready to go with ANY recipe I dream up,and THAT is a BIG subject!Look at my profile and you will see why.
