Finger food and small bites for a birthday party

    Mon Nov 07, 2011 1:24 pm Groupie
Hi all.....I'm looking for some kid friendly appetizers for a birthday party. The party is going to be at a bead and candy store. Since there will already be a lot of sweets there, I'd like some ideas for things that kids (and their parents) would like that is more savory. Cute ideas are a plus!

Egg and Ham Pinwheels are a good fingerfood - these are egg and ham, but PBJ, tuna, other fillings work well, and you can use bread (slightly flattened with rolling pin), tortillas or wraps. Tortillas and wraps are good made ahead of time, they soften just a bit and are easier to eat.

Do you need cold/room temperature foods or will you be able to heat things - the homemade sliders are really good - Almost White Castle Hamburgers . And of course these little rolls work with all kinds of filling, both warm and room temperature and are easy for little hands to handle.

I'm thinking to serve cold since the party will be in the neighborhood, but not at home.

The pinwheel sandwiches are a good idea.

My daughter wants hummus and crackers, but I'm not sure the other 6-year olds will agree!

My kids actually love little smokies in bbq sauce which would be a very smple idea or of course pigs in a blanket or mini corn dogs.
    Hope this helps.
