I just tried
Apple Ball this afternoon and it was very tasty. My granddaughter "helped" and we had some w/ Ritz cracker sticks. It was mild enough for little ones to like but I thought it had a nice flavor... will probably be a little better once chilled and the flavors had a chance to blend more.
Hope this helps.

My daughter likes sunflower seeds, and they are not the same allergen as PB. Do other kids like them?
This might be a bit of work, but I often make "cheese tortillas" for my kids' snacks - on a baking sheet, lay out a bunch of corn tortillas, sprinkle with grated jack or cheddar cheese, cover with another tortilla, bake a bit at 400 (till the cheese is melty and the tortillas are a bit cooked), and cut into 1/4s or 1/6s. My kids love them even cold.

I have already taken my turn at providing kdg snacks for a week and popcorn is always a big hit. I pre-measure it into the snack size baggies to save on mess and hassle. My son's class has only 8 kids in it so I'll rely on popcorn often as my turn will come up frequently!

This thread has been a real education for me. I taught in the classroom in the 50s and 60s and we never ever thought about allergies as have been discussed in this thread. Room mothers provided treats and we gave them no instructions about what to avoid. Now to have allergies so prevalent. WOW! I read, I think in Reader's Digest, that they don't know why they have become so prevalent, either.
But what I'm writing about: I found a nice-sounding dip on another site that I thought sounded interesting. Take a look:
Special Pumpkin Cookie Dip
In a mixing bowl, beat 1 (8-oz,) pkg. cream cheese and 2 jars (7-oz. each) marshmallow creme together until smooth. Stir in a 15-oz/ can pumpkin, 1 teaspoon cinnameon and 1 teaspoon grated orange zest. Store in refrigerator. (Mashed, drained sweet potatoes may be substituted for the pumpkin. That does sound yummy and healthy to me.)
This dip works well with gingersnaps, vanilla wafers or sliced apples. I know this isn't standard recipe format but I'll submit it correctly in the regular forum. Just wanted you to have a preview.

My son love's his veggies, so we often send carrots and cucumber and it seems to go over well. His class is not allowed dips or sauces, so just the veggies are good. We often send fresh fruit, cheese, crackers and pickles too - one of his favorite. We are peanut free and I do try and think of something different, so all the suggestions are great!

I like to send Quaker rice cakes. They are affordable and healthy. The chocolate and caramel kinds are more appealing to 5 year olds, my kids love them.
