When dessicated coconut is called for in Aus/New Zealand recipes is it sweetened or unsweetwned? I have both, but just wanted some clarification! Are both there, too?

It's a case of ingredients not quite matching.
Your unsweetened coconut is the equivalent to our shredded coconut.
Dessicated coconut is an unsweetened, fine cut that is extremely dry.
An example:

An Indian or asian market would have dessicated coconut.
We do not have sweetened coconut ..

Thanks!

Isn't that strange? I have to go to the co-op to get unsweetened, but the sweetened is in every store!

Until recently , we could only source the (unsweetened) fine dessicated coconut or the shreded dried coconut (again unsweetened).
It's only recently that we can also buy the "moist coconut flakes" in our stores. I think this product is more like the US style coconut flakes

Asian food shops also sell it.
