In the past I had to go on a low fat diet due to my high blood lipid profile, now I have to go on to a carbohydrate free diet as well, due to other health problems. Can anybody please help with low carb low fat recipies, or how to modify normal recipies. icon_sad.gif

I clicked low in fat and low in carb in the recipe sifter and came up with these -,low-fat,low-carb

Now you have to review any recipe carefully, since sometimes some ingredients are not included in the analysis, or the serving sizes are unrealistic. But it's over 12000 recipes as a starting point.

So what type of recipes are you interested in? You can click the above link and then limit it by courses or type of main ingredient to find things for yourself, or give us some idea of what types of dishes you want to find in a low-fat, low-carb version.

Dear friend, I would like to thank you with all my heart for the link you posted. Being a new member I was not aware that I could have used 'low carb' or 'low fat' in the search criteria.

I looked up myself and found 175 recipies that I can use for now.

Thank you once again, I hope that some time in future I would be able to upload recipies I would have tried myself, and be of help to others on this web site as it was to me icon_biggrin.gif

I am so glad that you found some low carb diet recipes that will keep you busy for a while. But what about those all-time favourite recipes that you want to go on making? I thought I would suggest some simple to help you modify your favourite to low-carb recipes or low fat recipes.

    • Simply reduce the amount of fat or oil needed in a recipe by a quarter or a third. The same principle can apply to the amount of sugar in recipes.
    • Use olive oil for recipes that call for butter, lard, or shortening.
    • Use non-stick pans.
    • Cut off fat from meats before cooking.
    • Use the low-fat varieties of different products.

I hope these tips will help you in your kitchen! I’d look forward to hearing about how your experiments went.

Those are good suggestions. Mother always cut the fat and sugar in any baking recipe by half and I don't remember any failures. So many recipes require far too much of both, masking the true flavors of the food.
