Hi - I'm in love with using My Fitness Pal to track my eating and nutritional habits. There are many other apps out there that also allow you to scan barcodes on packaged foods or recipes, which automatically adds the nutritional info into your program. Most of the recipes I cook come from this website, and I would love to be able to just scan or click a barcode from the recipe rather than having to enter every ingredient for every recipe into my app. I know the technology exists to do this! Think about it!

The logistic problems this would entail seem insurmountable. The recipes here are posted by individual members, not by the administrative staff. Trying to convert every single recipe by every single member seems like a lifetime job.

But couldn't the website automatically assign a bar code to each recipe, just like it assigns an automatic recipe number? Seems like it would be an easy thing to do.

It wouldn't be like assigning an automatic number as the recipe is posted. It would be like going back and numbering every recipe that's here. HUGE job.

apart from the capacity to decode the barcode information from printed barcode on food, I think the app should also add other abilities. For instance, it may give your a score based on the food calory, your age or even your weight-loss goal. So this app can be more suitable for people, like me, to control the weight with my own situation. icon_smile.gif
