Shades of Purple and White

To welcome spring weather, I decided to set my table using my favorite dishes that belonged to my Grandmother. She bought them in the early 1950's and it was also one of her favorite sets.

The pattern is Georgian Eggshell Violets by Homer Laughlin.



Each layered place setting consisted of a purple charger, a white trimmed with gold plate, Violets dinner plate, white salad plate, Violets dessert plate and a glass sherbet dish.



Gold napkin rings held white battenburg lace and purple organza napkins wrapped together. I also used gold flatware that I bought several years ago.



I added gold trimmed crystal wine glasses and Violets bread and butter plates. Crystal candleholders held purple taper candles and pillar candles.



Snowball clusters and bridal wreath blossoms filled the handblown vase in my centerpiece for the table.

I always know you will have a beautiful table. I love lilacs and violets and this really hit the spot with me.
I also noticed your tablecloth.....is that an antique or very old hand made one? The crocheting in it looks exactly like one I have, but don't use too often. It fits my table when extended with leaves, so it is too large to use for smaller occasions. My only problem with it is that I have to dampen it, and iron it each time, and that is quite a job ! But your round one looks just beautiful with the dishes.
So pretty.......I enjoyed seeing it.

Beautiful as always! I love seeing you tables! Do you recall where you bought your purple napkins? I've noticed purple is very hard to find.

Donna, I bought the tablecloth on ebay and it's new, not an antique. I bought it several years ago, but if I'm remember correctly, it wasn't expensive at all.

Kim, I bought the purple napkins on ebay also. I bought them from a seller named alwaysalwayselegant. I've bought several items from them and haven't had any problems at all with the items I've gotten from them. The only problem with these napkins is that they're organza...not really very practical for use as actual napkins.

Dreamgoddess, I just have to visit E-Bay more often. Such great buys. I have only checked it out a couple of times for some depression glass and then didn't know how to determine the condition of the items, so I "chickened out". You seem to make great choices though !
