Hey friends, this has been asked in a different thread. What's your input?

This is the only thread I have found that mentions lentils, so I hope it's ok to ask this here

I really don't like lentils, but so many vegan recipes call for them. Is there a good replacement for them in vegan recipes?

I would suggest this person try different lentils before ruling all lentils out. The pink lentils are very good and not "lentily." Also, depending on what recipe s/he is using, they might be able to substitute peas - although they have such a distinct flavor. I would try the different lentils though to make sure they really don't like them.

I agree Gingersnap, not all lentils are the same. I'm really fond of the brown french lentil, it's small but holds its shape nicely.
Keep in mind that red lentils go mushy like peas ... so they're great for making something like dahl, but all depends on what you're going for. They're also super quick to cook.
Depending on what kind of dish it is, could sub any type of bean such as chickpeas/garbanzo, black beans, etc. Or try mung beans (mongo)...very small bean, or adzuki (sometimes spelt azuki) is another favourite.
