I am thinking of making this cake for a friend's birthday. I would like to replace their icing filling with something lighter, like a mousse.
Can this cake be prepared in advance and could it be frozen??
Thank you!

Since the recipe has you freeze the layers a couple of times while making the recipe, I think that it would freeze ok. The frosting is used to "glue" the sections together, I am not sure if the mousse type frosting you are contemplating would do that as effectively.
In terms of freezing, I would freeze it unfrosted. Frost it before serving. I think a mousse type frosting would be nice, although it won't look much like a candy bar. Wrap it very very well for freezing and use within 30 days. Freezer burn is the big enemy so be sure you push out all the air that you can.

Thanks for the advice!
When I looked at the photo the filling looked much lighter than the icing recipe sounds...it looks 'airy'...like a Mars Bar filling, I thought!
Hence my mousse idea....hmmmm?
