    Masterchef USA

Wow, to think I missed the previous episodes (here in South Africa)!

There are too many channels and I don't check the programs properly. Fortunately they repeated the week's instalments this afternoon, and I could sit there and enjoy it.

I have no idea which Masterchef this is -- which year -- but no matter, it's fascinating. Gordon Ramsay is one of the judges. The "effing" man actually comes across as a sweetie.

I am addicted to the various Masterchef series -- UK, Australia, USA, and now we're getting a South African Masterchef as well!! Should be interesting.

Joe Bastianich, though, is a real SOB on the show. I don't know what he's doing there; he's not a chef.

Okay ... Joe. I'll watch out for him -- at this stage I still do not have the faces and names together!! icon_eek.gif

    Joe's the tall, skinny judge.

Ohmig ... icon_eek.gif He must be the one who took the youngest contestant's dish in one scene (she's only 22) and threw it in a trash can. So rude and crude!!

I saw Ramsay watching this and going blood red, then putting his face in his hands. You could see he felt it was too much, and he felt sorry for the young girl.

In the second season, he says to a contestant, "Do you miss your husband? You may be going home to him today." (or something like that; don't remember the exact words) Just nasty.

I'll report if anything funny-peculiar happens again, but tonight my favourite guy was sent home. A pity I don't know his name -- I've only seen a few episodes and it's nearing the end (because I missed ALL the previous episodes), and I STILL have to sort out people.

I found it very unfair tonight that 6 contestants all did a "mystery box" dish (basically venison) and only 3 dishes were tasted. I really think that after the hype -- ONE hour!! to make a venison dish!! -- they should have tasted all 6 dishes.

Yeah, I agree. Still, they did watch the preparation, so they knew what went in it all.

Zurie, i'm also in SA. Mike was the contestant who left last night. He was also my favourite. Such a genuine guy.

Let's see what happens next icon_smile.gif

HeLLO, Choc-Chip-Chunks!!! Nice to see a fellow Seffrican here!

We have an African Cooking Forum as well -- it's just so "dead" at the moment.

Hope to see more of you!

Yes, I was really holding thumbs for that guy and can't believe he's out now. I am not sure the elimination procedure is terribly fair. But I DO think we see maybe 10% of what really went on in those kitchens. icon_eek.gif

We saw the last episode of this series last night.

I was SO sad to see "my blue-eyed boy", Lee, leave ... Such a tall, handsome guy (I'm a sucker for "tall, handsome"!)

The young Whitney who won is so enormously talented -- at that age I could barely fry an egg, and here she goes doing the most incredible dishes.

I do so hope they'll show the 2nd Masterchef USA soon, but Professional Masterchef is on, and soon we'll see South African Masterchef. Can't wait -- there is something about these Masterchef series which is mesmerising!! icon_lol.gif
