    Hello all,

The theme for the supper club to which I belong is South American cuisine, so I've been chosen to provide the appetizer and cocktail for the night's proceedings. A vegetarian appetizer would be preferable, and the cocktail/drink an aperitif, but anything suitable would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for replies.

Made the bean dip and the pineapple app. Both were very well received. What makes the South American?

South America is such a massive "crock-pot" of cultures almost anything fits. I has huge Spanish, Portuguese, French, and African (due to the slave trade) influence as well as pockets of German, Italian, Dutch, and Japanese. Pineapple is grown in South America, Corn and a variety of beans originated there. Then there's the spices......... icon_lol.gif

    Did that help?

It does - I was asked what the country of origin was, and what the dish was called in that country and I had responses for neither, which is why I asked.
