I have 3 boxes of a new "Creamy Garlic" flavor. There is no frying, just boiling in skillet. Is there any chance they can be made in the crockpot? I need to make all three boxes with three pounds of chicken breast, but my chicken fryer is too small. I have a 8Qt. Farbraware that would work.

Rice a roni uses converted rice, if I remember correctly, and that works well in the crockpot. What I'm unsure of is the timing. I think the rice-a-roni would cook more quickly than the chicken breasts, and I'm not quite sure of what to suggest. I'll see if I can find any posted recipes that use both those ingredients and see if that provides any guidance.

Thanks for the help. The recipe (on the back of the box) calls for cubing the chicken breast, then adding it to the rest of the ingredients in the pan. Cubed should take less cooking time then a whole breast. Was also thinking about frying the cubed breast a little befor adding to crockpot.

I'd definitely brown the chicken in the crockpot. What I think I would do it use it with the crockpot set on High. Reduce the water or broth somewhat - if it seems a bit crunchy, then you could add some, but it's hard to get rid of too much liquid in a crockpot.
I am just guessing, but I think an hour or two at most would get it done.
I don't think that it would work if you need to leave it for 6 or 7 hours on Low. Pasta really does not work well in the crockpot, in general.

I think I'll forget this idea. I have a 2Qt. crockpot so I bought an extra box to see if it does work in the crockpot. It doesn't. The Creamy Italian is just a box of plain white rice with a packet of seasoning.
After two hours on high, the rice was done, but as soon as I mixed in the seasoning packet, the rice turned to mush. It called for adding 1/2 cup of water to the seasoning packet. I only added 1Tb. which would not absorb into the mix.
As it was, the flavor was terrible. This more resembled Congi.

Rice and pasta are very tricky in a crock-pot.
