Is it sildball? Found a few recipes (like http://www.matoppskrift.no/sider/oppskrift18253.asp) but none in English - hopefully someone comes along and knows more Norwegian than I do! icon_confused.gif I could make a few educated guesses based on Swedish but not enough of them, I'm afraid.

My friend used to make something called: Pault, or Polt. It was grated raw potatoes, squeezed dry, with a piece of side pork in the middle and boiled. Then sliced and served. Anyone ever hear of that? She was Sweadish. Lotus.
