Bowle mit Waldmeister?

This time of the year my mother used to make a delicious Wine Punch (Bowle) using a green herb called Waldmeistere.The green color was so amazing and the smell was wonderful! Does anyone know if this can be made here in the US? We would also drink "Berliner Weisse" with either Himbeer Schuss or Waldmeister one of the most refreshing Summer Drinks.

Waldmeister is called woodruff in English. Maybe you can find a supplier somewhere. I found this on germandeli.com:

Koechin, should I order the Waldmeister sirup or the sauce???

I am familiar with the Schwartau brand and it is very good (have had their preserves), but never heard of Goebber--have you? What do you think??

I would order the syrup! (I am still trying to find a recipe for the Bowle) I also love Berliner Weisse mit Himbeer oder Waldmeister Schuss! I have never found a site, that so customer satisfaction oriented!They go out of their way. I have allready spent a small fortune with them!

Re Weisse beer......

Years ago I used to frequent a wonderful local German restaurant (until they went out of business) - anyway I used to enjoy a Weisse beer there, but it was not the "Berliner" (with the raspberry syrup), it was the other one that always came served with a slice/wedge of lemon on the rim of the glass. Can either of you tell me more about that? It seems the German restaurants where I live now are unfamiliar with that Weisse beer (they only know the "Berliner"), and I would love to have it again.

Do you live in Germany? In the US It is also referred to as Wheat Beer/Weiss Beer.( It is brewed from Wheat rather than Hops) It is usually only available in Spring/early Summer. It does not keep well.I can find it even here in Mississippi! A beer you might like to try is "Blue Moon" which is served with a wedge of orange.I had it at a pic-nic in Michigan and it is great, even though I am not a beer drinker. Hope this helps. BTW. Berliener Weisse is the same beer, but instead of the rasberry or woodruff use lemon.

I think the lemonade one is called "The Radler" and is made with equal parts beer and sparkling lemonade (limonade), served with a lemon twist.

Okay I think you're right, Koechin. I get it, she was asking about the variety of a German beer, that is served with a fresh lemon wedge. Originally I thought she wanted a recipe for a drink that's made with German beer, and served with a lemon twist. Thanks for setting this straight. tee hee ................. ................
