something like 500 dead and 150,000 left homeless. Food, blankets, mattresses, clean water, and medicine were all in short supply. Infrastructure (highways, bridges, sewage, electricity and water) has been severely impacted and damage has made it extremely difficult to help the survivors.

If you'd like to help, please consider donating to the charity of your choice. Here are some with a presence in Brazil:

    Catholic Relief Services
    Caritas Brazil
Red Cross/Red Crescent or please call 1-800-RED CROSS or
    1-800-257-7575 (Spanish).
    Salvation Army

Before donating, please make sure and check the charity of your choice out at CHARITY NAVIGATOR

If anyone would like to suggest other charitable organizations, please feel free.
