Here at the home they have taken the main floor dining room & converted into a restaurant.

We have an a la carte menu with many different items such as fish, chicken breast, hamburgers, any way you want it. We also have steak(the kind that one would use for pepper steak)the Cubans love a steak prepared with mojo and onions, or breaded steak -- they take the same steak and bread it.

There is the regular meal which is the special of the dayl This is for the whole home. Then at the Cafe they also have onion rings, french fries, both sweet and green plantains, chicken salad, Caesar salad, vegetables, and I could go on and on.

It is free -- only the residents that can feed themselves and are pretty alert can come-- and each resident can bring a guest as well. It makes it nice beacuse you can have company come and have a lovely meal, served on linen-like tablecloths, with special new utensils, and crystal goblets -- it is really lovely.

Forgive me for carrying on Dreamgoddess but it is one of my pets. Along with the dietician and the head of the kitchen but without a doubt it was the administrators project. She also implemented a daycare for the employees' children and that has gone over like hot cakes, free to boot.

Your ideas for flowers etc. sound wonderful! With just me and my dad, I have gotten away from table decorating and this is getting me excited. Even with just the 2 of us, we should all pamper ourselves and make our meals a special, happy occasion! I know I am really going to love this forum!

Just a thought, it might be nice to make a special table for just the children, with neat things and finger foods that children would love. Just an idea.

Oh yeah Becky, great idea, I'm going to go right now and look for kid friendly recipes. I had not thought of that but they deserve it too and I've got between 10 & 12 that will be here. I'm sure I can find a small table and fix it up in miniture and maybe put a cheap little dollar store toy on it (squirt guns for the yard) I LOVE this idea and am going to run with it - will even give them their own flowers. I'm now on a roll - thanks so much.

I too agree with you, DH and I have no more kids around so eat most of our meals with just the two of us - when he's home, and from now on those meals will be special for us as many times as I can do it.

By the way FT I also agree with Becky that we really need to thank you - love all your pics and truly enjoy this thread.
