So I started low carb on 8/23/10. Cheated while on a wks vacation. Now back and I am so happy I have lost 13 lbs as of this am! Not starving, actually not hungry at all. (work issue so stress is a factor) Doing simple exercises, waist bends, sit ups in the evenings. Not much at all. I lost 60 lbs yrs ago on low carb and kept it off for years. I have a goal of 50 lbs to lose. Wish me luck!

I have never been to this forum -- me bad.

Having found out that I probably have Type 2 diabetes in Jan. 08 gave me the shock of my life!! (Not been properly tested, but I test my blood glucose and I can NOT eat cakes, bread and desserts!! It shoots up!)

This pesky disease is nowhere in my very large circle of family and relatives ...

In the end, with a lot of research, I found that it could well have been caused by a betablocker pill I've been taking for over 3o years for a floppy heart valve.

    Whatever ...

The blood glucose level had to come down, and I could do with losing some weight.

    I went on a no-diet, just-very-low-carb sort of eating.

Enough meat, poultry, fish. Lots of fresh veggies and salad. This is what we eat anyway, but I cut out grains, breads, cereals and even oats.

I lost 17 kg in about 2 months. It was a bit much, and my skin and hair suffered. But I also had little appetite, possibly because of some depression -- after all, I am a committed foodie!

Now I am used to my meagre, low-carb diet. I found a puffy low carb dry biscuit, which is fine instead of bread. I eat lots of protein but also lots of vegs and salad. (Fruit ... well, not really, too much sugar. Maybe 1/2 apple now and then, or 1/2 banana).

Best of all if that my weight stays constant -- about 130 lbs.

I do get hungry, but not madly so. I don't snack at all. My only indulgence is a good, solid evening dinner with wine. And I still cook GREAT meals, often from Food.com!

(I don't have much of a sweet tooth, and for the rare urges I keep a slab of expensive 85% cocoa butter Lindt choc in my bedside cabinet!! Two little squares are enough to satisfy the sweet tooth!)

Walking -- briskly -- is my exercise. Unfortunately our weather has been awful for weeks. And guess what: my flat tummy has become a rounded tummy due to lack of walking!! icon_eek.gif

And a gym will never see me, I hate it!!! I just need to get walking again! icon_lol.gif icon_cry.gif
