Newbie "Fry Cook" Poster
I would like to cook some Split Chicken Breasts in the crockpot to have some shredded chicken to freeze for easy weekday meals. Does anyone cook split chicken breasts this way? Do you add water, broth or any spices? How long do you cook for?

I cook chicken breasts in the crockpot. The bone-in split breasts will make pretty good chicken stock as it cooks. Bones add a toothiness to the liquid, making stock. I'd use water and cook until the breasts are 180 F to 190 F internally for shredding to avoid an overly-dry product (over-cooked chicken always is). Time will depend upon how hot your pot cooks, but I'd start will cooking on low for 5 hours and check the internal temperature.
