Semi-Experienced "Sous Chef" Poster

Just wanted to say hello I am new to the forums I actually found this site by accident but sure am glad i did!!! I cant wait to go thru everyones recipes my fiance is all german and loves german food I am 3/4 german but did not know this until i was about 36 years old grew up with my mom's grand parents and beieved they were mostly norweigian come to find out the only grandparent who was not german was my grandpa and he had 1/4th in him as well but I love authentic german cuisine and I love to cook but have never realley tried to much of the german cooking unless we go out to eat so this site is exciting to me hope you all have a wonderful day and i am glad i have some new (neighbors) to share with

Regular "Line Cook" Poster

Hi! I'm all German myself -- but from Brooklyn, NY. (My relatives are named Honecker, Reichardt, Kluepfel, etc.) My exposure to German cuisine was initially through my two grandmothers -- I especially remember sauerbraten and dumplings for special occasions.

So I'm no expert, but I've been exploring and collecting German recipes the past couple of years.

I have to recommend a particular recipe to you. I got it from a German friend of mine a couple of years ago. It's not complicated, but it does take a little effort -- a little like making homemade pasta, if you've ever done that. But it's fun to make, and guaranteed... everyone LOVES it. It's a specialty from southern Germany.
