Hello,
I have been using a Crock Pot for 25+ years... and finally the glass cover broke and I also had the electrical cord taped. So it was time for a new Crock Pot, a 5 Qt Rival.
I made a beef stew with veggies and it came out very cook. However, the flour in the recipe made clean up of the stoneware pot a little difficult. For my next recipe (below) I used Pam cooking spray to coat the pot... Is this always necessary with a stoneware pot?
My second recipe was cut up chicken with veggies and the little book that came with the Crock Pot said low heat 10 hours.
For my old Crock Pot I knew that I should not cook chicken to long. But I decided to follow the time in the book. It turned out to be incorrect, big time. Way over cooked.
BTW, I always open the Crock Pot and stir briefly during the cooking process.. for the Chicken recipe above, I did this two times... And I do know that doing so might require longer cooking times for some recipes.
For the most part I have only used the Crock Pot for beef, chicken, curry stews... and soup once in a while. But now that I have a new one, I should look into many other recipes. Rival's web site has some nice recipes and pictures as well.
