My grandson showed me sliced schinken wurst at Rewe Markt in Bonn. He had tasted iit at school and he and his 2 year old sister love it. They had been devouring lots of it for several weeks when my daughter saw that there was a direction in fine print that said it should be heated in the oven for 5 (or 10?) minutes. She thinks it may be dangerous to eat it uncooked because of the pork content. Does anyone know?
The children hate it cooked and also now refuse to eat regular ham. My grandson has lots of food allergies so we are happy when we find something he loves. If it is only edible cooked I would like some suggestions as to how to cook it without changing it too much.

If I were in your shoes and wanted to ensure the safety of the sausage, I believe I might cook it as directed and chill it in the refrigerator so the grandkids didn't realize it was cooked.
