Has anyone heard of this and if you have do you have a recipe for it? It's suposed to be something found here and a friend of mine asked me if I had heard of it, her husband is from Belgium they now live in the states, she would like to make it for him. From what she has told me it's supposed to be incredibly sweet and fattening. Thanks for you help!

Hmmm I found a picture of it, but no recipe, although this info might help:
    Excerpted from: http://www.expatica.com/source/forum_thread.asp?channel_id=3&thread_id=28303

Can't tell you how to make it but I live in Limburg the cake capital and have eaten it hundreds of times!

As far as I can work out...no pudding. It seems to be just a pastry type (bisqui) base that looks like a flan case, then chunkey apricot confituur, then whipped cream then chocolate flakes sort of like shaved off a block. All of the ones I have had have been with white choc.
    and
Guido says you need to spread a layer of apricot purée on the tart paste, then bake it and finish it off with whipped cream and chocolate chips.

Here's a picture of smurfentaart being eaten so you get an idea of what it looks like: http://users.pandora.be/gerard.moyson/robbe.moyson/April/1/1.html

    Hi there,

I'm a Belgian, but to be honest I had never heard of Smurfentaart before. I have been looking around on the net and this is what I can tell you about:
I haven't found anything about the pie base, so I guess you could use your favourite recipe for that, on top of that add a layer of vanilla pudding, then a layer of apricot jam, then a layer of whipped cream and finally on top of that white chocolate flakes. I hope this has helped you out a little.

Thorsten told me he has found some recipes, and if he e-mails them to me, I'll translate them for you and post them.

Thank you all for your help, if the recipes are in dutch (nederlands/vlaams) you won't need to translate them. My spoken vlaams isn't the greatest but I've learned to read it okay. icon_biggrin.gif
