Hi there, well I have been 'the German exchange student' twice in my life, once in Nrthern Ireland and once in New Zealand and your idea is really sweet! I'd like to let you know though that I always really liked the fact that I got to try different food from what I knew, it was part of the whole cultural exchange and experience, but I guess if they stay a little longer they have a chnce to do that anyways.
Kalbsrahmschnitzel is Filet of Veal in a Cream Sauce.
I'll see if I can find you a recipe and translate it.......
Here you go:
Wiener Kalbsrahmschnitzel
4 veal filet steaks, sliced thinly, approx. 5 oz each
3 Tbsp Butter flavoured shortening
4 fl oz beef broth
125 g double cream (I'm not sure what double cream is in the US, it's the one with a very high fat content) or creme fraiche
1 pinch lovage
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
Heat the shortening in a pan and fry the veal for 3-4 mins each side over medium heat.
Season with salt and pepper and set aside, keep warm.
Add the broth to the pan, bring to a boil making sure you scrape in all the bits left from frying the veal.
Add the cream and season to taste with finely crushed lovage.
Serve with the veal.
Sounds simple and easy to me!
