Hi again, This one is a search for my moms four layer chocolate cake. Yellow cake with satiny brown icing. The only thing I remember is this IS german. The cake had like 5 or 7 eggs and the frosting had 8 or 9 eggs in it. She didn't make it often because it was time consuming to make but boy was it good! I remember her doing the frosting one egg at a time and it seemed to take FOREVER to finally get the beaters!!! Boy I bet she liked watching us salivate until she was done!!!

To me it sounds like a classic chocolate buttercream torte. I have more often seen it three layered, just because it is easier to do. I'll look for a recipe. icon_smile.gif

This recipe is close to what I was thinking of. it is of hungarian/austrian origin.
