Hi all-
A dear friend is getting married in a little over a year. Much of our friendship has been spent while eating chili. Years have gone by while we've munched on our favorite treat. Therefore, I have come to the realization that the best wedding present for him and his lovely bride would be a heaping, helping portion of THE BEST CHILI EVER. I am thinking that if I throw some vegetable chili in the crockpot tomorrow, it will be exactly a year to the day till his wedding. I plan on crocking this chili for the entire year to perfection. Any advice or pointers? It has been brought to my attention that over the year, some of the chili may evaporate, but I will just replenish as I go. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME THAT THIS TAKES ME A YEAR. It will simmer and bubble and grow in shape and form just as the engagement of my dear friend shall. Therefore, I shall name it "engagement chili." Also, what kind of sign should I put on it to to make sure that no impetous souls should unplug this engagement chili? I was thinking maybe " Be patient, God isn't finished with me yet?" Because no-one wants to mess with god. Any other suggestions?

While this may seem like a good idea, you must inquire about any flatulence problems your friend may have. One of the reasons I split up with my fiance had to do with her OBSESSION with chili. She would eat it almost every day and refused to take any kind of medication. As a result I would often find my self sleeping on the couch. Her "problem" got so bad that even her dog, Pinto, would come and sleep with me out in the living room.
However, if your friend and his wife have no problems in that department I think you have a great idea. I know how much my ex loved it and cooking it for a year will make it even better. You can always taste the difference when it is cooked with love and time. Anything that comes out of a crock is better when you put your love in it. As for the sign to keep peeps out of your engagement chili I would suggest either "Rex's Special Food" or "Stool Sample". Good luck and Im sure they are going to love it.
Oh, and i think you should serve it to them at the rehersal dinner the night before the wedding. This way they dont have to worry about getting food on their wedding clothes and they can really dig in. Just an idea.
