There used to be a greqt German restaurant here run by a woman named Uta. She made such good rouladen that I used to order two - one to eat there and one to take home for the next day. I know there are Rouladen recipes here, but can anyone give me tips on meat cuts, gravy, etc.? Uta made hers with chopped bacon, onions, pickles and mustard.

I am sure there will be several folks who can help you. I will have to find my recipe and share it too.

I think making rouladen would be an excellent topic for a cooking class. I am going to start an event thread for making rouladen.

    Welcome!

I make mine the same way. If I get some time tonight, I'll post my recipe for you. icon_smile.gif

I posted this recipe: Mom's Rouladen
This is my mom's recipe for rouladen as taught to her by my dad's mother, with a couple of flavour enhancements from me.
As promised, here is my recipe for rouladen. icon_smile.gif

    Thanx, Irmgard,
I'm going to try your recipe day after tomorrow. My DH looks very skeptical when I tell him he hasn't lived until he's had good rouladen. I don't think he can wrap his mind around the weird ingredients well enough to visualize them working together. Well, I'm going to TRY to show him. I'll let you know how it turns out. icon_smile.gif
