What Kind Of Slow Cooker Do You Have?

I have 3, too! All Rivals-5qt oval, 3 qt round, and 1.5 qt round. For those of you with the mini pots, do yours have removable crocks and low/high settings. I didn't pay any attention when I picked mine up and the crock doesn't come out and it only has off/on-which I think is actually high. I still use it, but I'd rather have a better one, so, if yours has different settings and a removable crock, what brand is it?

How big is the "original" old classic Rival? Mine is so old it's avocado green! And it's probably older than some of you...

I also have a small white one that I just bought last year. It cooks too hot for what I thought I wanted it for, but I've discovered it will cook smaller amounts of cut-up chicken breast and veggies in about three hours, so I can start supper and then go out shopping or whatever. It's a Rival, also, with no controls. Plugged in = on.

I think the original ones are either 2.5 or 3 quarts. I had an avocado green one up until a couple of years ago, when it finally broke.

If you aren't using your baby crocks for dips or whatever, use them for simmering potpourri instead of the stove.

I'm going to give the lamp timer idea a try though. I hope it works for me! I'd love to use the crock pot more often. Is anyone else worried about leaving it on when you are not at home? Thats my main concern.

I also have 3 now since I got a new 5 Qt. for myself for Christmas. They had them at the Home Depot and they came with a small one setting "little dipper". They are all Rivals, my old one I got from my Grandma which is the non-removable standard Rival from God only knows how long ago.
Kristen I've been using mine for years just because I can put stuff in it in the morning and come home to a wonderful smelling kitchen and a hot meal. Its never been a problem or a concern as I figure that is what they are designed to do. The lamp timer seems to be a good idea for your situation, but I'd make sure it was a heavy duty one that can handle the wattage of your crock.

My nickname should be Crockpotter! I have 7, from a crockette to a 5 qt. All but one are Rival. The 2.5 qt. is old, with a non-removable crock.

We live in FL and using my crockpots really saves electricity as well as keeping our home cooler almost year round. My oven gets used about 2 months a year.

Good to find others who enjoy crocking!

The first one I got as a Christmas Present the first year I lived on my own. I'm not too crazy about that one because it only heats from the bottom. I use it mainly for very thin soups and potatoes.

The second one I got in September last year when we had custody of my neice and nephew AND a Chinese exchange student, a total of 8 people!! I love this one and it works great!

The white one I got for this last Christmas because I thought it would be great to have one to make desserts in. It is also good for when I have something small and I don't want to use my huge one.

Pamela, what brand is your first one, (the one you do not care for?). I have one that looks similar. It has a teflon base
which you can use as a griddle. I love mine. It was a wedding gift in 1996.

My main one is a 6qt. Corningware Electric. The crock is removeable and can be used on the range top. I love that feature because I can easily brown or saute things first and then put the crock back into the cooker portion and I'm good to go. I also have 3 of the Rival minipots which we use for dips or for simmering potourri.
