Pronounced: NOH-ree

Paper-thin sheets of edible dried seaweed, ranging in color from dark green to dark purple to black. Nori is generally used to wrap sushi and rice balls. Nori can be purchased toasted (yakinori) and nori brushed with soy sauce is called ajijsuke-nori.
