Kamaboko

Ground or pureed steamed fish molded into a loaf or cake. Chikuwa is kamaboko is shaped as a long, thin cylinder around a piece of bamboo. Ita-kamboko is square (or rectangular) on cypress wood planks. Served sliced, as a garnish in soups.
