Jalapeno and Avocado Cheeseburgers

"This is a very tasty juicy burger. Had just the right spice blend for us. Quick and easy to put together. Perfect for a summer Bar-B-Que with friends. Made this with my recipe #237867. Original from my Weber grilling book with a few changes."

directions

  • In a medium bowl gently combine just until blended, the ground chuck, red onion, parsley, jalapeno, chopped garlic, salt and pepper.
  • Gently shape the mixture into 4 patties of equal size and thickness, 3/4 to 1 inch thick.
  • With your knuckle or thumb, make a shallow depression about 1 inch wide in the center of each patty. (This will help the patties cook evenly and prevent them from shrinking on the grill).
  • Cut the avocado in half lengthwise, remove the pit, and scoop out the inside in once piece with a spoon.
  • Cut lengthwise into 1/4 inch slices.
  • Heat grill for medium high heat.
  • Brush the cooking grate clean.
  • Rub some oil on the cooking grate to help with sticking.
  • Grill the patties over direct medium high heat with the lid closed as much as possible, until cooked to medium, 10 to 12 minutes, turning once and moving around on the grill for even cooking.
  • During the last minute of grilling time place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt, and grill the buns, cut side down until toasted, 20 to 30 seconds.
  • Assemble the cheeseburgers with the avocado and lettuce, if using and a little mustard or other spread you like.
  • NOTE: I didn't add any additional condiments to mine but some friends loaded their's with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles and loved it. Use what you like.
  • Serve warm.

  1. Yummy!!!!! We ate it up!

  2. Delicious! I made this "our" size by using 1 pound of organic lean ground beef and making 4 burgers. I did use 1 finely minced jalapeno (seeds and ribs removed). The red onion was grated over the meat allowing the juices from the onion to be collected. The burgers were served on toasted gluten free buns with Dijon mustard, sliced tomatoes and additional thinly sliced red onion. The only problem I had was navigating the burger properly to my mouth. Made for the Diabetic Forum and the 2nd Annual Tailgate Party.

  3. this was a great burger and the addition of avocado was great with it. I omitted the salt. I used jalapeno, without seeds. Thanks Nimz. Made for Market tag.

  4. This is one great tasting burger. I made 2, one for tonight and one for the freezer and I'm very glad that I did :D. The only thing that I really did differently is that I used a fat free cheese. The jalapeno's give wonderful flavor without being to strong and why haven't I ever thought of putting avocado on a burger before? Some sliced tomato was the ideal go with. Thanks Nimz.

  5. Definitely a winner of a burger- I cut the recipe back to one burger with no problem. The only change I would make next time would be to use cilantro instead of the Italian parsley. I used a clove of garlic for my one burger and it did not over power. Served on a whole wheat bun with tomato slices on the side

It's just a tad boring now and just another recipe site like all the rest. Sad.
