Healing Poison Ivy Rashes, Insect Bites With Banana Peel

"This natural method dries out the rash very quickly. Hope you have a quick recovery! I have to give this credit to Nancy a client of mine. She uses it and swears by it. Make sure you wash clothes and shoes as soon as possible. To relieve itchy skin whatever it may be, give it a try."

  1. This absolutely works on mosquito bites!!! Without a doubt, banana peel takes the itch right out AND dries them up quickly. I have tried everything and this is the only remedy that works for me. I would imagine banana peel would work great on poison ivy too, though I don't want to learn the hard way.

  2. Well, fortunately, we didn't acquire poison ivy rashes on our vacation but we did have about a bazillion mosquito bites and this treatment worked very well for them, especially for me. The skeetos got into the house and attacked me while I slept and I ended up with lots of bites on my arms. This is a great treatment for any itchy skin ailment. Thanks Rita :)

  3. I need to go buy more bananas and alcohol. Wish I had found this before. Hope to try it, for some reason insects absolutely love me and I'm covered with the evidence. I'm so uncomfortable and am on the hunt for inexpensive homemade remedies. Hope I get to try this one and rate it high. Thanks Rita. :)

  4. I won't rate this yet as I haven't tried it (will come back and edit when I have). But I wanted to thank you for the idea, anyway. My brother is hyper-allergic to poison ivy, getting huge baseball-sized blisters and sometimes requiring hospitalization. In addition, my nine-year-old daughter has glaucoma and because of this can't use steroids of any kind. She's constantly getting into poison ivy. Will definately recommend this to my brother and try it on Mo the next time she gets into it. Thanks.

  5. Oops! I am not going to be able to be a good judge of this, sorry! By the time I saw the recipe, I had already been given cortisone creme to put on it twice a day and an oral prednisone. It went away within a day or two after...I still have the poison oak in my yard, so I hope I won't need to try it out, but at least now I know another way to take care of it! I did EAT a banana though and it makes for good comfort food...Thanks again! Would never have thought of it.
