directions

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • If you prefer, the bacon can be pre-cooked for a couple of minutes in the microwave to insure it will be crispy by the time the scallops are done.
  • Do not overcook the scallops as they will be rubbery.
  • Cut each piece of bacon in half to make 24 pieces.
  • Roll a piece of bacon around each scallop and secure on wooden skewers.
  • Place scallops on a rimmed baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle with Old Bay and creole seasoning.
  • Both seasonings contain salt, so don't overdo it!
  • Amounts listed are what I used.
  • Bake at 425 degrees for 15-18 minutes, or until the scallops are done.
  • The bacon should be crispy.
  • While the scallops are cooking, combine the ketchup, brown sugar and vinegar in a saucepan to make the dipping sauce.
  • Mix well and cook until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Serve the scallops with the dipping sauce.

  2. We made these as appetizers when friends came over to visit. I used maple bacon and the added flavor of the maple was excellent!

  3. My husband really enjoyed these Scallops! I am not much of a scallop person so I only made half the recipe. I had large size scallops to use and I used recipe#118154 for the creole seasoning. They were delicious with the dipping sauce , my husband said :) Thanks for sharing the recipe!

  4. I made these as an appetizer one night on a whim. I still firmly believe the plate did not actually hit the table before they were all gone. A little greasy, but blotting them with a paper towel got rid of the grease for those who wanted it.

  5. These were excellent. I made as directed except I added crushed red pepper to the sauce. I loved the sauce. I also cooked the bacon in the microwave for a minute before wrapping. Wonderful recipe.
