"Apple Pie" Bath Salts

"Treat yourself and also make this as a gift. I did not give amounts of the fragrance oil, just add them by "smell" Use the layering technique, don't make it too wet with the oils because the layers will become the same color then, or just mix it all together. The salts will have a light golden brown color."

  • If you want to layer the salt in jars take half of the salt out and put in another bowl so that stays white.
  • Add the cinnamon to the other half and mix well.
  • Cover the bowl and leave for an hour.
  • Uncover and take a good sniff, you can adjust the smell and add some more fragrance.
  • Put in jars, when layering, slightly tilt the jar, scoop a few spoonfulls white, then the cinnamon and so on.

  3. Pick A Chef couldn't have come at a better time. I'm so glad I chose this recipe as one of the 3 to fix. Not only does the finished product look and smell great, my whole house smells like apple pie. My daughter's school is doing a fund raiser and the kids from her class are to bring in bath and body products...guess what we are sending??? I've already got their jar ready and decorated. DD used this in her bath last night...in order to "sample" it...she loved it and can't wait to try other scents. Thanks for sharing this recipe and for answering many questions. ;) ~k

  4. Ohhhhh heavenly! I only made enough of this for a few baths because I knew it would take me forever to use up 6 cups worth! I used 1 cup of salt and parred the recipe down that way. This scent is so nice and warm. What a great fragrance to enjoy while you are soaking in the tub! My skin felt very soft after the bath and I felt rejuvinated. Thanks for sharing this simple yet decadent recipe!

  5. I quartered this recipe and made a small batch of this for my friend's mom in the afternoon today. I have used for 1 1/2 cups of salt and 1/4 cup of baking soda, 7 drops of orange 100% pure essential oil, 9 drops of lemon 100% pure essential oil and 12 drops of 100% pure grapefruit essential oil. I forgot to reduce the quantity of cinnamon and I've ended up using 3 tsps. but I dont mind, really, because, I just love the aroma of the cinnamon and the blend of the oils in this like I've used. The bath salt is a lightly brown coloured one(due to the extra cinnamon) but it looks good, smells great and left my hands soft and smooth after use. Thank you for the recipe!

Hello, my name is Bonnie and I am a very beautiful cat as you can see if you look at the picture at the top of this page.... What??.. I am supposed to talk about you??? But it says here: About Me!! Well all right then ...... My mom is Dutch and has moved to England in October 2007, after living 15 years in the Netherlands with my English dad. They don’t have any human children and “created” their own family, which means I have to share them with Hannah, she is a 6 years old tortie cat, Abby the dog, she is a 9 year old Beagle, and a one year old black Miniature Pincher named Poppy, I refuse to tell you my age but I am a georgious lilac British Shorthair cat!! It is obvious she adores pets just by looking at her name she uses on Zaar (many on Zaar call her Pets or Petsie Poo), her name in real life is Annelies and that is a common Dutch name. My mom always liked to cook, but since she joined Zaar it got out of control, and it doesn’t help that she is disorganized. Printed recipes everywhere in the house, the recipe binders have got bigger and just between you and me, her hips too!!! I have lived in Holland all of my life until now, but they lived in several different countries/places:- desert and coastal Oman, up North and West in Holland, Vancouver-Canada, Aberdeen- Scotland and in Norway they lived in Bergen and Oslo. We have all moved together to England, as you can see I’ve already learnt the language! I heard her say to Dad that this is the last time she moved to another country...she's had it with moving from one place to another! ( its her age...she's getting grumpy) Mom is 55 years old but I always hear her say that the date of her birthday does not mean that much to her, the date of her cancer anniversary is more important, because so far she is a survivor. Besides cooking she has other interests too, crafts, gardening and soap making. She likes Zaar and is one of the hosts on the German-Benelux Forum here on RecipeZaar. She would like to thank everybody who tries and comments on the recipes she has posted on Recipezaar, your feedback is very much appreciated.
