Reviews

  1. so is it 1 cup of chips or 2?? thats a very wide variance.

  2. Wow! If I could give these more than 5 stars, I would! These are by far the best Tollhouse cookies I've ever made. I didn't have 'oatmeal' in the house and used Quaker Quick Oats instead and they came out perfect. Hot from the oven....is there anything better?!

  3. This is a little late to tell you, regarding the cookies, but in our very old recipe it says to dissolve the baking soda in the hot water, then add to the egg, shortening, sugar and vanilla, creamed mixture. I was wondering how many it makes, but it is probably about 2 1/2 to 3 dozen cookies.

  4. DH says these are the best, he really loved them and i will be making them again. The only thing I don't understand is why the teaspoon of hot water?? I did use it , just what is the purpose of it , thanks for posting a keeper.

Tweaks

  1. I used a mix of cashews/walnuts and since I was out of shortening.. used unsalted butter I also used bread flour.. mainly just to use it up!

  2. I bake these at 350 for 8 minutes and they are perfect. I personally believe 375 F degrees is too high for a cookie. Also note that one 12 oz package of chocolate chips is perfect.
