  • Cream sour cream, sugar, butter, vanilla and eggs. Add bananas baking soda and flour. Bake in a moderate oven *350 degrees* in a prepared 9x13 pan. Baking time varies. 45 minutes should be way more then enough. Mine takes 40 minutes and five to toss together.
  • Icing: as cake is baking bring orange juice and butter to room temperature. add powdered sugar in a mixer. Until its at desired consistency.

  1. I was also looking for a recipe besides banana bread to make. I had a new Nordicware pan to try out so this was a perfect marriage. Very light and delightful tasting; enjoyed the richness of the sour cream in the recipe. Cakes turned out perfectly and were served for a pre-Easter brunch. I covered them with the thinnest layer of glaze from your powdered sugar and orange juice without the butter. Delicious! Made for Spring PAC 2010.

  2. Made this today for tonights dessert. Did just like it was written. Loved the simplicity and the fact I could use up some bananas out of the freezer without making banana bread for a change. Mine was done in 35 minutes. Thanks for posting this, WyomingMoonDust.

One on her way to college, one on his way to high school, and one on her way to middle school. What keeps me sane with three kids, two of which are girls? I love to bake. Although I rarely eat anything I bake... lol I just love to experiment and doing things the way they were meant to be done decades ago. Nothing is worth doing if it isnt done right I figure.
