Crock Pot Saucy Chicken Thighs

"A great way to make chicken thighs. My kids love this recipe. I have made this with boneless thighs and breasts also. Adjust cooking time if using other form of chicken."

 1. This is pretty good. Not to mention super quick and easy!

*Quick note in regards to so many comments about the chicken skin.
Removing the chicken skin takes away a lot of flavor. My suggestion. Before you put anything in the crock pot. Season the chicken on both sides with a little salt and fresh ground pepper. Heat a heavy skillet on a high heat. Once it is hot put about 1 tbsp of oil in the pan and then place your thighs skin side down for about 3-4 minutes. Just long enough to crisp and brown the skin. Flip the chicken pieces over and let the other side brown for about 2 minutes. Then throw it in your crockpot and cover in sauce.

Sure you have an extra pan to wash but I think you'll be pleased with the results. It makes the skin chewy and full of flavor instead of rubbery and gross, plus you've released most of the chicken grease/fat from the skin in the skillet so you shouldn't have much more in the crock pot.

Hope that helps, happy cooking!

 2. This was a quick easy weeknight dinner. I used boneless and skinless thighs and still had a fair amount of grease floating on top BUT after 6 hours on low they were still moist. Thanks for posting.

 3. These were good but I should have skinned the thighs I used before cooking. There was a LOT of grease on top. The flavor was good, though - I'll make these again, just skinning the chicken first.

 4. Very good flavor. I used regular chicken thighs (with the skin) so it had a fair amount of grease floating on top when I first lifted the lid. Nothing my handy-dandy turkey baster couldn't handle! Thanks.

 5. Very good flavor! I used 6 bone-in chicken thighs and 6 drumsticks. I removed the skin from both before putting it the crockpot. The honey barbecue flavor fully permeated the meat while cooking. I cooked these for 4 hours and they were perfectly cooked.

Tweaks

 1. This is a wonderful crock pot recipe. I used boneless, skinned thighs and it worked fine. I did end up with more sauce than was needed even though we spooned it over our rice because it was so yummy. I did make a little goof and used a healthy teaspoon of dry mustard instead of the prepared. It tasted fine. It smells so good coming into the house at the end of the work day. I will be making this many more times. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

I have two boys Eddie 18 and Brandon 10. I have been with my hubby for 16 years. I work full time outside the home and my boys keep me busy at home. Eddie is a singer and base guitar player in a band and Brandon races go karts. We also have a Collie/Beagle mix named Sugar. I love to cook and try out new recipes. My family likes it too but at times ask my to make just "normal" food, as I forget sometimes to make my own TNT recipes. I cook a lot with with my crock pot as it makes life a lot easier for me. I am always on the look out for new crock pot recipes. I'm not much of a baker as I don't like to measure things. I collect cookbooks and recipes in general. I usually start with a recipe and tweak to my families liking. My Rating System: 5 Stars = The whole family enjoyed the dish and it will be added to my TNT cookbook. Book #220911. These recipes will be made again and again. 4 Stars = Recipe was good, but needed some modifications or it was good but not something we would want on a regular basis. Also goes into my TNT-4 star recipe cookbook. Book #220912 3 Stars = It was edible, but won't be made again. 2 Stars = Needs some kind of major adjustments. 1 Stars = Inedible, didn't work, waste of ingredients.
