  • Brown meat and drain.
  • In another pan, mix salsa and water and bring to a boil.
  • Add macaroni. Reduce heat to medium-low and cover.
  • Simmer about ten minutes or until macaroni is tender.
  • Add velveeta and beef and stir until velveeta is melted.

  1. I was not too impressed with it. It needed more flavor to me. It was better than HAMBURGER helper. Like one review said needed to add more water for the pasta to cook the way it needed to be. I used Pace HOT Picante sauce. I added flavor to the meat: dice brown onion, garlic, salt, pepper, oregano and cayenne pepper. I made my own cheese sauce rather than using Velveeta cheese. It was 3 tbsp. sour cream, 2 tbsp. butter, salt and 3 handfuls of mozzarella cheese and melted in the microwave. Added to the mixture and it was more than enough.
     
  2. Perhaps if I'd used half the Velveeta I would have liked this but I found it to be way too much, and I seriously love cheese. In general, I just didn't enjoy it unfortunately, at all.
     
  3. Great simple, last minute fix on a busy weeknight. My family inhaled this dish. Used a pint of homemade salsa which made it extra good. Needed a little more water to cook the macaroni. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
     
  4. This was so good and so easy. My boys loved it! They love anything with Velveeta! I added some garlic powder, cumin, and pepper to the boiling salsa and water. Made for ZWT 5, Ali Baba's Babes!

Tweaks

  1. I modified recipe to accomodate what I had on hand so I used Rotel tomatoes instead of salsa, rotini instead of elbow pasta, a mix of cheddar, mont jack and colby cheese. I forgot to add the water but loved it anyway. It was good leftover. Thanks for posting such a easy, tasty and versatile recipe.

I have two boys Eddie 18 and Brandon 10. I have been with my hubby for 16 years. I work full time outside the home and my boys keep me busy at home. Eddie is a singer and base guitar player in a band and Brandon races go karts. We also have a Collie/Beagle mix named Sugar. I love to cook and try out new recipes. My family likes it too but at times ask my to make just "normal" food, as I forget sometimes to make my own TNT recipes. I cook a lot with with my crock pot as it makes life a lot easier for me. I am always on the look out for new crock pot recipes. I'm not much of a baker as I don't like to measure things. I collect cookbooks and recipes in general. I usually start with a recipe and tweak to my families liking. My Rating System: 5 Stars = The whole family enjoyed the dish and it will be added to my TNT cookbook. Book #220911. These recipes will be made again and again. 4 Stars = Recipe was good, but needed some modifications or it was good but not something we would want on a regular basis. Also goes into my TNT-4 star recipe cookbook. Book #220912 3 Stars = It was edible, but won't be made again. 2 Stars = Needs some kind of major adjustments. 1 Stars = Inedible, didn't work, waste of ingredients.
